About NOSE
| :: Presentation :: |
Funded in 1975, NOSE: Nature Orienteering Saint-Etienne is one of the most well-known club in France . Among its 120 members, about 6 are in the French team and regularly take part in international competitions. The club is proud to have 2 top elite runners: Thierry GUEORGIOU and François GONON. Thierry has been world champion in middle distance in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, in sprint in 2007 … and took the silver medal in relay with François in 2005.
Apart this high level activity, NOSE organizes 4 trainings per week for everybody with at least 2 in forest (link). We travel all around France to take part in national competitions. We also like to gather for training camps in winter and summer (like the training camp at Halden , Norway in 2004). In 2005, NOSE has been the first French club to compete in Jukola Relay in Finland (the biggest orienteering relay in the world with about 13000 runners).
Whatever it may be for leisure or competitive activity, we are open to everybody from the youngest to the oldest! We are all linked with one passion: Nature and Orienteering. Join us to surf the ills! We are looking closely for some kind of exchange with a scandivian club. If you are interested please contact ….We will do our best to arrange a training camp in France for you. |

Currently there is 120 members in NOSE. Members are divided as follows :

Such results would not have been possible without the help of a coach: Michel GUEORGIOU (becoming later French Team coach) and his successors. 4 athletes from NOSE are in the training structure called “Pole FRANCE” based also in Saint-Etienne and organised by the French federation. This group has gained lot of credits and considerations abroad because of the quality of the trainings along with the good results in international competitions.
